Community Palliative Care Network Seminars
Dr. Coulombe has created a series of educational material that has become invaluable in her attempts to establish strong communication with her patients and colleagues. Dr. Coulombe considers teaching an essential facet of her palliative care practice. Seminars developed for family physicians, hospital and community caregivers, patients and families are available through the Community Palliative Care Network (CPCN).
The series of seminars listed the CPCN web page presents the evidence based, clinically practical information, and tools you will need to develop your own approach to individual symptom control in a palliative patient.
The modules are divided into 3 groups:
- (GREEN) The major symptoms are addressed individually giving the caregivers the 'core' information.
- (ORANGE) Information is presented describing the surprisingly predictable and observable changes as the body shuts itself down.
- (RED) Actual patient crises are described, followed by suggestions outlining practical approaches to address each issue.
The information is presented in a form and language that can be used in explaining the symptoms and changes to the family.
